His ancestors were Finnish immigrants who settled in this part of Norway in the mid-1600īs. Hansen was employed as a construction worker as a teenager, and commuted between Grue Finnskog and Oslo before commencing his studies at the School of Arts and Crafts at the age of 18.
Hansen made a name for himself as a print artist and painter as early as the mid-1970īs. His background in graphic art has given him a preference for striking contrasts and nearly colurless encounters between black and white in his painting. He has also worked with reliefs for public spaces, where he forms his simple signs in large formats. | | | |
